The film director Sir Alfred Hitchcock was born and brought up in Leytonstone, and is celebrated across the town. There are mosaics depicting some of his films at Leytonstone Station, the buildings at 527 High Road Leytonstone (next to the building which stands on the site where he was borh, have been painted with birds. And this hotel stands on Whipps Cross Road, looking out over Epping Forest.
